After School Program

Shop Class

This program is designed for students in grades 7-12.

In this program, the student is given the instruction, support and freedom to create woodworking projects using a variety of hand and power tools. They will choose from pre-selected projects that are designed to teach the safety and use of the tools. At the completion of each project, the student will take a test to show their mastery of the tools. They will then advance to another project which teaches different tools. Once the student passes the tests for all the tools, they will be given more freedom to create projects of their own choosing.

They are permitted to attend The Woodshop one day per week from 4pm-6pm for 7 weeks. They may choose to attend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. They will have the assistance of woodworking volunteers as they develop both personally and professionally. Each class is limited to 8 students. There is no transportation currently provided.
